Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Vego mobile application. By downloading or using the App, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

Vego is operated by Jacopo Giannetti, Italy. Contact: support@hellovego.com.

2. What Vego does

Vego helps you plan plant-based meals and shopping. It generates recipes, dish images and grocery lists based on your preferences and budget, converts recipes you import into plant-based versions, analyses photos of restaurant menus, checks product barcodes against a public food database, and lets you share a grocery list with one other person.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Vego. An account created with Sign in with Apple is required after purchase. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account, and you agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.

4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

• Vego is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Available plans and prices are shown in the App before purchase and may vary by country.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time. Deleting the App, or deleting your Vego account, does not cancel your subscription.
• If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple according to its policies; we cannot issue refunds directly. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right of withdrawal. By starting to use the digital content immediately, you may lose that right in accordance with applicable law.

5. AI-generated content

In particular:

• Allergies and intolerances. Vego is not an allergen-detection tool. Never rely on the App to determine whether a food is safe for you if you have an allergy or intolerance.
• Menu and product results. Menu descriptions can be incomplete and ingredients change without notice. Product data comes partly from Open Food Facts, a public community-maintained database that we do not control and cannot guarantee.
• Nutrition and health. Vego is not a medical, nutritional or dietetic service and does not provide medical advice. Consult a qualified professional before making significant dietary changes, particularly if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or take medication.
• Cost estimates. Budget figures are approximations and will differ from actual prices in your store.
• Food safety. You are responsible for safe food handling, storage and cooking temperatures.

6. Content you import

You may import recipes by pasting a link or by sharing a post or web page from another app.

You confirm that you have the right to use any content you import, and that you will use imported content for your personal, non-commercial use. Recipes remain the property of their original authors; Vego produces an adapted version for your own use and does not claim ownership of the original work.

How imported posts are handled. When you share a link to a social post, Vego retrieves the publicly available post in order to read the recipe out of it. Any video is processed transiently, in memory, for that single purpose: Vego does not store it, does not make it available for download or playback, and offers no way to save media from third-party services. What is kept is the text of the extracted recipe, which may be reused if the same public link is imported again.

We will remove content in response to valid rights-holder complaints sent to support@hellovego.com.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the App;
• use automated means to access, scrape or overload the service;
• resell, sublicense or commercially exploit content generated by the App;
• upload unlawful content, or images of people without their consent;
• attempt to circumvent subscription controls or usage limits.

We may apply fair-use limits to AI generation to keep the service sustainable, and may suspend accounts that abuse the service.

8. Shared lists

You can share grocery lists with one other person, by giving them an invite code.

While you share a space, both people can see and modify the lists in it, see each other's chosen display name, and see which items the other has checked off — including live on the lock screen while shopping. Your taste profile, saved recipes and scans are never shared.

You can leave a shared space at any time from Settings. If you leave, or delete your account, the space and its lists remain with the other person and your name is removed from them; if nobody is left, the space and its lists are deleted.

9. Intellectual property and licence

The App, its name, logo, design and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and in accordance with these Terms.

Content you create in the App remains yours; you grant us the limited licence needed to host and process it in order to provide the service.

10. Availability

We aim to keep Vego available and working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and functionality that depends on third-party services (such as AI providers or public databases) may be modified or discontinued.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you retain all mandatory rights under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

12. Termination

You may stop using Vego and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

13. Apple and the App Store

These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple, and we — not Apple — are solely responsible for the App and its content.

• Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services.
• Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
• Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims from you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
• Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
• Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App.
• Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will notify you in the App. Continuing to use Vego after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you may also rely on the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
